Savor the sights, tastes and sounds of Bar Harbor, Maine and the Bar Harbor Music Festival.  Your group will attend a select musical performance, visit historic sites, take a scenic Harbor cruise, settle in for a railroad excursion, enjoy the thrills of a local lumberjack show, explore Acadia National Park and feast on a delicious lobster dinner.  Don’t miss this opportunity to explore Maine’s coastal beauty!

Day One

Today we embark for the charming seaside resort of Bar Harbor, Maine, home of Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor Music Festival.  A delicious dinner is included this evening at our Bar Harbor Resort.  Following dinner you can relax and enjoy the amenities of the resort. (D)

Day Two

Breakfast is included at the resort before we begin our day of touring.  We will meet our local guide for a short journey to Acadia National Park where we will enjoy a guided tour of the park including a visit to the top of Cadillac Mountain for breathtaking views of Frenchman’s Bay and Bar Harbor.   Next, we travel into downtown Bar Harbor where you will have time for lunch and shopping on your own.  This afternoon we will visit the Abbe Museum.  The Abbe Museum shares the history and culture of Maine’s Native people, collectively known as the Wabanaki (Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Micmac and Maliseet), and operates from two locations in Bar Harbor. At the downtown location visitors will find dynamic exhibitions and activities interspersed with spaces for quiet reflection.  During our visit we will be joined by a local storyteller who will enrich our visit to the museum. We return to the resort for the evening.  Dinner is included at the resort.  (B,D)

Day Three

Breakfast is included at the resort.  This morning we travel to the Bar Harbor Town Pier for a beautiful, scenic nature cruise. We will sail along the shoreline of Frenchman’s Bay and see the summer mansions, Egg Rock Lighthouse, highlights of Acadia National Park as well as bald eagles, harbor porpoise, seals and other sights and wildlife.  Trips are 2 hours in length.  Lunch will be on your own again in downtown Bar Harbor. This afternoon we visit the Bar Harbor Historical Society followed by a stop at Bartlett Spirits and Winery for an educational talk and tasting.  This evening we travel to Bar Harbor Lobsterbakes for a traditional Maine Lobster Dinner complete with all the fixings.  During dinner we will be visited by a local lobsterman who will talk about lobstering in Maine.  (B, Lobster Dinner)

Day Four

Breakfast is served at the resort.  This morning we travel to the Maine Downeast Railroad.  A trip on the Downeast Scenic Railroad not only takes you back to a time of elegant travel in lovingly restored rail cars but also travels through a truly, beautiful part of Maine.  From the canopied forest where the light sparkles through the treetops on the chickadees and nuthatches bouncing from limb to limb to the open marshland where you might get a glimpse of the beavers, herons, turtles and moose; the restored section of the Calais Branch Line offers a view not seen since the wealthy rusticators traveled from the cities to their exclusive summer homes.  After our ride we will enjoy lunch and shopping on your own in the town of Ellsworth.  This afternoon we travel to the Maine Lumberjack Show.  Twelve exciting events are packed into this show including:  Axe throwing, log rolling, underhand chopping, power hot saw, pole climbing and much more. We return to the resort to relax and enjoy dinner served in the Main Dining Room.  Following dinner, we will attend a musical performance at the Bar Harbor Music Festival.  (B,D)
