Available: September 15 – 19, 2022. Enjoy a four-night package originating from Vermont’s historic Middlebury Inn. Centrally located on the Town Green, the Inn is the perfect location from which to see Vermont’s highlights during Fall Foliage. Orchards, Syrup, Horses, Farms, and Lake Champlain, this tour offers a bit of everything for everyone.
Day One
Late afternoon arrival at the historic Middlebury Inn. After settling into our rooms overlooking the Town Green we will enjoy a delicious dinner at the Inn. (D)
Day Two
Breakfast is included at the Inn this morning. After breakfast we will be joined by our knowledgeable local guide for a delightful day of touring aboard the motorcoach. Our first stop brings us to one of the oldest orchards in Vermont, where we meet the owners for a short walk through the trees to hear all about the varieties of apples and fruits grown onsite. Next, we make our way to a local Maple farm to learn the process of making Maple syrup “Vermont’s Liquid Gold”. We enjoy a delicious lunch today at the Waybury Inn, made famous by the Newhart Show. Following lunch, we travel to a working Morgan horse farm to meet with the training and breeding staff taking care of these beautiful creatures. Returning to the hotel you will have time to explore downtown Middlebury at your own leisure. Dinner is on your own this evening at one of the many restaurants within easy walking distance of our accommodations. (B,L)
Day Three
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast, we board the coach with our local guide for day on the shores of Lake Champlain. Our first stop is at the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory, where you will have the opportunity to see how Vermont’s famous “Furry Friends” are constructed. Next, we travel to the Shelburne Museum for a self-guided exploration of the largest art and history museum in Northern New England. Lunch is on your own today in the Café. Boarding the coach we head to the historic Church Street Marketplace, with shops encompassing over four blocks there is something for everyone. We finish our afternoon with a two-hour scenic narrated cruise on Lake Champlain aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen. We return to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. Tonight, we will be treated to a private dessert demonstration by the Inn’s Chef before enjoying another delicious buffet dinner. (B,D)
Day Four
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast, we board the coach with our local guide for another picturesque day of touring. Our first stop is for pictures at Vermont’s “Little Grand Canyon”, the Quechee Gorge. Next, we travel to the Billings Farm and Museum to visit the working farm and outdoor history museum. Following our visit, we will enjoy lunch and shopping on our own in the charming village of Woodstock. This afternoon we head for Killington Mountain and will take a scenic roundtrip gondola ride to the summit for spectacular views **weather permitting. Return to the hotel to relax before our final dinner at the Inn. (B,D)
Day Five
Breakfast is included at the hotel this morning. After breakfast, we board the coach for our journey home taking with us many fond memories of Fall in Vermont.
