Day One

Today we begin our journey to the Lakes and Mountains of Maine.  We travel north arriving at our mountain lodging in Ludlow, VT.  A delicious Vermont Roast Turkey dinner is served this evening at our hotel this evening.  This evening relax and enjoy your mountain surroundings. (D)

Day Two

A breakfast is included today at the hotel.  This morning we begin our journey to the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  Our first stop this morning takes us to the Vermont Country Store in Rockingham for a little shopping.  We continue to the Cannon Mountain Resort where we will take a tram ride to the 4200’ summit for outstanding views.  Enjoy lunch at the summit at their cafeteria.  We continue our journey visit the charming town of Bethel where we meet with a local historian for a walking tour.  Situated between the White Mountain National Forest to the south and Maine’s tallest mountains to the north, Bethel has attracted visitors to its beautiful natural surroundings since the 1850s.  Included in our tour is a visit to the Bethel Historical Society Museum.  The Society’s museum, library and archival collections include a wide range of materials documenting the rich heritage of western Maine and the White Mountain region of Maine and New Hampshire. The O’Neil Robinson House (1821) and Dr. Moses Mason House (1813) offer more than a dozen period rooms and exhibit galleries where visitors can discover and explore the area’s varied past.  We check into our resort accommodations for the next two evenings.  This evening a delicious dinner is included at the resort.   Relax and enjoy your mountain surroundings.  (B,D)

Day Three

Following breakfast, we board the coach for our morning adventure.  We travel to the Bethel Outdoor Adventure Center for a sluicing experience.  You will sort through a bucket of premium material from a local western Maine Mine. Learn to identify local minerals including black, green and blue tourmaline, quartz crystal, garnet and aquamarine. We continue to Naples, Maine where we board the Songo River Queen II for a scenic cruise on Long Lake where you will enjoy fantastic scenery.  A light lunch will be included on our two hour scenic cruise.   We return to the resort where you will have time to relax.  Tonight we enjoy a traditional Maine Bean Pole dinner.  This evening we meet our Maine Moose Guide who will take us on a 2.5 hour tour as we look for the elusive moose.  Be sure to have your cameras ready.
