Eight Days – Seven Nights
2018 Season
Day One
Group arrival at the Albany, NY Airport. Today we journey to the Green Mountains of Vermont. Here you are greeted by your New England guide. We stay the next two evenings at the Castle Hill Resort and Spa. Welcome Cider and Cookies in the lobby as you are greeted by the staff. A delicious dinner is served at the hotel this evening. (D)
Day Two
A hearty buffet breakfast is included this morning at the hotel. Today we board the coach with our local guide for a day of touring. Our first stop today takes us to Morse Sugar Farm in Montpelier (Vermont’s State Capital). Here we learn how Vermont syrup is made followed by a traditional sugar-on-snow. Next, enjoy some free time for lunch and shopping in town which is home to many fine restaurants operated by the New England Culinary Institute. This afternoon we travel to Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for a guided tour and tasting. A final picture stop today at Quechee Gorge (Vermont’s Little Grand Canyon) This evening we enjoy a lovely dinner served in the historic Castle along with light piano music. (B,D)
Day Three
Breakfast is served at the hotel before departure. Our first stop today takes us to The Vermont Country Store in Rockingham where you will have a little time for shopping. Next, we travel to Cannon Mountain where we ride the Tram to the 4200′ summit for spectacular views of the White Mountains. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Summit Cafeteria. Our next stop takes us to the Flume Gorge Visitor Center where we enjoy a film and exhibits. We check into our hotel for the next two evenings in Lincoln, NH. This evening we board the Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train where we enjoy a scenic journey through the White Mountains while being served a fabulous four-course dinner in a restored Pullman Car. Day Four
After breakfast, we board the coach for the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Our first stop today takes us to Lake Winnipesaukee where we board the M/S Mount Washington for a cruise on New England’s second largest lake. We disembark the boat in the charming town of Wolfeboro where you will have some free time for lunch and shopping on your own. This afternoon we visit the Castle in the Clouds overlooking the lake and surrounding mountains. We enjoy a guided tour of the home and grounds of Thomas Plant. This evening dinner is included at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day Five
Following breakfast, we board the coach for a journey across the Kancamagus Highway (Known as one the most scenic drives in North America). We stop along the road for some pictures. We continue to Maine where we drive through Kennebunkport and Walker’s Point, the summer home of Former President Bush and then onto Freeport (Home of LL Bean) in time for lunch and shopping. This afternoon we enjoy a guided tour of the city of Portland to include the Portland Headlight which was commissioned by George Washington. We make our overnight in the town of Saco. A fabulous Maine Lobster Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (B, Lobster Dinner)
Day Six
After breakfast, we board the coach and journey to the city of Boston. Before leaving Maine we stop in Perkins Cove where we board the Finest Kind Lobster Boat for a cruise to learn about lobster fishing. We continue to Boston and arrive at Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market in time to enjoy lunch and shopping on your own. This afternoon we have a guided tour of the city that will include The Boston Common, Cheer’s Pub, the State House, King’s Burial Ground and more. We continue to Old Cape Cod where we will stay the next two evenings in the lovely town of Falmouth. Dinner this evening is included at our hotel. (B,D)
Day Seven
This morning, take the ferry across to Martha’s Vineyard, named for a sailor’s daughter, Martha. The island is a haven for artists, poets, singers and celebrities who are attracted to its laid back charming lifestyle. Here you enjoy an island tour of sweeping vistas. Visit the historic whaling town of Edgartown with its narrow streets and elegant homes. Have some leisure time to wander and shop. Return to Cape Cod by ferry. Dinner is included this evening at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day Eight
Following breakfast, we begin our journey home. Before leaving Massachusetts we enjoy a picture stop at Plymouth Rock and Mayflower II. We travel to the Albany, NY Airport for a late afternoon flight home taking with us many fond memories of our time in New England. (B)
